OASIS
Mono-browed, juvenile, mewling Beatles knock-offs-- Uh, did I miss anything?
SINEAD O'CONNOR
Like quite a few musical talents, I was listening to her years before anyone knew who she was-- In fact, most of my friends thought it was bizarre for me to listen to the music of some bald Irish chick. And then the public discovered her in 1990 and thought otherwise, never really realizing the gem that her debut album The Lion and the Cobra was (which is the first CD I ever bought; rebuying it to take the place of my vinyl edition). I'm sort of glad her third album was a bunch of big band covers, something which essentially killed her chances of being a mainstream artist ever again and sent her back into a modern rock cult following. Thank god-- Those people who kept referring to I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got as her first album were really pissing me off.
OFFSPRING
Okay, "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" is one of the most hilarious videos ever made, but that doesnt change the fact that 99% of the Offspring's songs ALL SOUND EXACTLY THE F***ING SAME!! Much like the fact that Cindy Crawford looks like a post-op transsexual, I'm sure that I'm one of four people on the planet who's actually cognizant of this.
OMC
I'd say what I really think about them, but "Once Were Warriors" is one of my favorite movies and I know better than to risk pissing off a Maori.
JOAN OSBORNE
What if God was one of us... who hates your cheesy little overplayed song as much as the rest of the world?
CARL ORFF
Possibly history's first one-hit wonder. But at least the Caramina Burana is cool for the most part, unlike countless one-hit wonder whys of the modern day.
KID ORY
In the last year tango was sort of hip, and various roaring 20's and zoot suit sounds have ripped up the charts too; but one of my future goals is to make a Dixieland revival-- At the forefront of this would be Kid Ory, my favorite trombonist. The charisma and verve of this music blows away anything on the charts today; but then again this is jazz, so Americans won't listen to it. Most people I've played this music for liked it, they just didn't know what it was or where to find it: If you like Big Band sounds, you'll probably love this just as much. Perfect listening for those disgustingly hot days when you just want to lay around and sweat; equally good for road trips.
OUR LADY PEACE
I don't know who that "lead singer" guy in the videos thinks he's fooling-- You can tell by listening that it's really Adam Sandler doing his best Billy Corgan impression. (Or vice versa.)
